Escaping Otuocha Market Bombing 1968

Amongst the horrified events of the Nigerian civil war is the Otuocha market bombing. In September, 1968, the Otuocha Market in Aguleri was bombed by the Nigerian airstrike killing 500 and wounding over 1,000 people. We travelled to the site of this bombing to see what’s it like after 54 years; and meet with Mr Philip Okoye who narrated how his family luckily escaped the attack and fled the town after the incident. According to reports, the 1968 attack in Otuocha market is said to be one of the largest massacres that happened during the Biafran war.
